New Year’s resolutions are a long-practiced tradition in our culture. January, the month we most often resolve to make change, is also the month we commemorate Sanctity of Human Life Sunday. This year, resolve to help end abortion in our community through fostering a culture of LIFE. Here are seven ways you can make a real and lasting difference.
- for an end of abortion.
- for women and men who are considering abortion.
- for the lives of the unborn.
- for women and men who carry pain from past abortions.
- for those who work in the abortion industry.
- for victory in hearts, minds, courts, and laws.
- for a revival of purity, marriage, and parenting.
- for repentance and healing throughout our country.
“If my people who are called by my name humble themselves, and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and heal their land.” – 2 Chronicles 7:14
Look around you and pray for opportunities to help the parents God brings your way. Celebrate the gift of life and actively support parents, especially those parenting through particularly challenging circumstances. Offer to babysit for free every once in a while to give them a needed break. Encourage them in the journey. Shovel their driveway for them on snowy days. Shower them with the things they will need to take care of their newborn. Celebrate the brave and selfless choice to place for adoption. Thank and encourage birth mothers. Wrap around the families God brings into your path and do life with them.
4. GET INVOLVED
Sponsor and/or participate in our upcoming Love Walk on March 18th. Consider volunteering at Assurance. You can learn more about opportunities here. There are even several ways you can invest in our ministry all year long that won’t cost you more than a few clicks of your mouse.
If you are not yet married, wait. Whether married or single, live a life of sexual integrity. Be encouraged that your commitments to purity are worth it.
6. CHOOSE LIFE
70% of those having abortions identify themselves as Christian. 51% of all pregnancies are unintended. No one thinks it will happen to them and many of our clients never dreamed they would consider abortion if it did. If you ever experience an unplanned pregnancy, please come to us. In us you will find no judgment, no pressure, just help. There is always hope.
7. EMBRACE THE GOSPEL
If you are experiencing regret, guilt, shame, or otherwise struggling from a past abortion, no matter how long ago, contact us. It would be our honor to walk with you through a journey of forgiveness and healing. Let this be the year you bring your secret into the light of God’s healing grace.
