A Joyful Celebration

The 2018 Love Walk was held Saturday, February 24th at Anchor Baptist Church. Nearly 175 people braved the rainy weather outside to join in the warmth and fun inside the two-story gym.

Paul Jorgensen, the Family Pastor at Anchor Baptist opened the festivities with the opening prayer, and Ronda Webber, the Director of Assurance welcomed all our guests. Once supporters signed in and turned in their pledge sheets, they were free to roam about and enjoy the activities planned for them as well as begin their walk.

First stop—coffee and donuts; there were plenty of both to fuel up on in preparation for the big walk around the upper level track. Meanwhile on the lower level, there was plenty of action in the bounce houses. Kids of all ages enjoyed bouncing around and sliding down the slides.

The face painting table was a big hit with the kids as was the balloon art. Ryan King with Mr. King Balloons kept the balloon swords and animals coming for all the kids to enjoy. The cake walk was also a big hit for adults and children alike.

Mr. Donny Prewitt with Snappy Cheese brought his famous cheese spread for the adults to sample and to purchase some to take home. Mr. Prewitt has been most gracious to donate the proceeds from the sales of the cheese to Assurance every year. All together he’s raised over $2,000 for the ministry at Assurance. Our understanding is this might be Mr. Prewitt’s last year to provide the cheese for the Love Walk, so our thanks go out to him and his years of support.

The Love Walk is a wonderful family-friendly event with plenty of food and entertainment and fun-filled activities for all, in addition to a chance to support a worthy cause. It’s a wonderful way to spend a Saturday morning, and we encourage all Assurance supporters to join in the fun next year.
