Hello from the NEW Executive Director

You never know the impact a decision or an encounter with someone will have on your life. That’s been my story with Assurance. My first introduction to Assurance was many years ago in the midst of my own unplanned pregnancy. Then it was called AA Pregnancy Center and located on S. Limestone. Overwhelmed by fear and feeling there was no other option, I turned away from the care at the pregnancy center and chose abortion instead.

What I didn’t know and couldn’t understand at the time was how that decision would have a lifelong effect. I carried the pain and shame of that decision in silence for 17 years.

Everything changed in 2009 when I confided in a coworker, who encouraged me to attend Assurance’s post-abortion healing Bible study called ReKnew. Through that study, God met me with His grace, surrounded me with women who understood my journey, and began healing the wounds I had carried for so long. Psalm 31:7 became an anchor for me: “I will rejoice and be glad in your steadfast love, because you have seen my affliction, you have known the distress of my soul.”

I never knew the impact that encounter would have on me at the time, but the Lord used that Bible study to free me from my shame and help other women in their healing journey. In the years that followed, I had the privilege of leading that same Bible study, walking alongside other women as they found hope and healing in Christ.

Then in 2022 the Lord wove another piece of Assurance into my story. After being a stay-at-home mom for several years an incredible opportunity to work at Assurance came available and I became the Assistant Director. In that position I was blessed to work with an amazing staff that love the Lord, our clients and witnessed countless clients choose life despite their obstacles.

Just a few months ago, the Lord led me into a new chapter of my journey with Assurance. I never could have imagined that the frightened young woman who walked through the doors of AA Pregnancy Center so many years ago would one day have the privilege of serving as its Executive Director. Looking back, I can clearly see God’s faithfulness woven through every step of my story.

I am humbled and grateful for the opportunity to serve in a ministry that is committed to providing compassionate, holistic care to women and men facing unplanned pregnancies while pointing them to the abundant life found in Jesus Christ.
